Securities Fraud Attorneys Managing Partner Scott Silver recently participated in the Public Investors Advocate Bar Association (PIABA) 2025 Annual Meeting, held in Amelia Island, Florida.
PIABA is the nation’s leading bar association for lawyers who represent victims of securities and investment fraud. The annual meeting brings together top securities attorneys, regulators, academics, and experts to discuss critical issues shaping the future of investor protection and securities arbitration.
The 2025 conference was a major success, featuring in-depth discussions on large arbitration awards against Wall Street firms, the proliferation of international Ponzi schemes, and the growing risks tied to bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies.
As part of the conference, Scott moderated the panel “How to Get Paid After You Get Screwed,” leading a discussion on strategies for recovering unpaid arbitration awards and settlements when small brokerage firms collapse after selling private placements or other illiquid investments.
Scott’s panel emphasized his leadership role in several major financial fraud cases against banks and other professionals who aided and abetted Ponzi schemes. He underscored that “Ponzi schemes don’t happen in a vacuum,” highlighting how advances in technology over the past 25 years have made it harder for financial institutions to ignore signs of misconduct.
The conversation provided valuable guidance for attorneys and investors alike on how to identify liable third parties and pursue recovery for victims of financial fraud.
During the event, Scott was also invited to join the PIABA Board of Directors, a recognition of his ongoing commitment to investor advocacy and leadership within the securities bar.
In this role, Scott will continue to fight on behalf of investors nationwide, helping victims recover funds lost to fraud, negligence, and breaches of fiduciary duty.
